Time to take a look back at a saga which has been governed by environmental protection.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"633\">\n<h3><strong><em>Our butterfly house will be reopening on Saturday 2 February 2019 at 10 a.m.<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2><strong>A tropical forest in constant development<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11839\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11839\" style=\"width: 259px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturospace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Ficus-laurifolia-scaled.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11839 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.naturospace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Ficus-laurifolia-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Ficus laurifolia au Naturospace, id\u00e9e week-end de tourisme \u00e0 Honfleur en Normandie\" width=\"259\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11839\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Ficus laurifolia perfectly acclimatised to the environment of our butterfly house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Over the years, our plants and trees have grown to become a proper tropical jungle: Among those species that have been present since the opening, an incredible variety of fig trees \u2013 which have mostly come from the French National Museum of Natural History in Paris \u2013 have taken over the premises, joined by banana cocoa trees, not to forget a rare orchid collection.<\/p>\n<p>Amid this natural jungle, our ornamental pond has always welcomed magnificent Koi carps that our young guests enjoy feeding.<\/p>\n<h2>Des papillons tropicaux et oiseaux exotiques toujours plus nombreux<\/h2>\n<p>Colourful, speckled or sometimes invisible to protect themselves from potential predators\u2026 Our butterflies have delighted our guests since the very beginning. The Naturospace team has been working with the same suppliers since this wonderful adventure started, following a sustainable development approach.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11838\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11838\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturospace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Caille-de-Chine.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-11838\" src=\"https:\/\/www.naturospace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Caille-de-Chine-1024x724.jpg\" alt=\"caille peinte de Chine Naturospace, zoo en Normandie\" width=\"800\" height=\"566\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11838\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our Chinese painted quails were amongst the first to come and live in our Normandy zoo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Introducing birds enabled our Normandy zoo to welcome rare specimens that are perfectly suited to our tropical environment. The first birds we introduced in 2007 were our Chinese Quails. They act as cleaners. In 2008, our Gouldian Finches and Swainson\u2019s Lorikeets made their first appearance, followed by our crested partridges, crowned pigeons, touracos\u2026 Our visitors are met with feathers of every colour under the sun!<\/p>\n<h2>New features for 2019<\/h2>\n<p>For 2019, we have drawn up a map of the glasshouse, which will be handed over to every family or group to help them observe plant and animal life within the glasshouse. Updated each season, this precious document will present the new specimens you see flying inside the glasshouse, trees currently in bloom, fun facts\u2026 it has been designed as an informative item you can take back home with you.<\/p>\n<p>A competition will be organised on social media with prizes to win. We shall tell you more about that very soon\u2026 Wishing a very Happy New Year, we look forward to welcoming you very soon for a weekend of sightseeing in Honfleur!<\/p>\n<h3>Ticket<strong> sales constantly on the rise<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ever since the Naturospace opened in 1999, the number of admission tickets has continued to grow, to near the figure of 100,000 visitors solely for 2018, our best year ever since the Naturospace was created. Grown-ups, children, tourists and school groups\u2026 We thank our dear public for supporting us in ever larger numbers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visits which have been
